Australia Day in Sydney

Australia Day is a big deal. This surprised me because I’m from England and nobody gives two shits about St Georges day, so I thought that ignoring your country’s national day of celebration and nationship was standard practice. I suspect it helps that Australia Day falls right in the middle of the Aussie summer and is thus celebrated with a barbie, a beer, a boat and some fireworks.

Most patriotic outfit of the day went to these six young ladies who hail from … America. Nicely done.

Food stalls everywhere.

Not sure if those Southern Cross tattoos were permanent or not!

Every year there’s a race between the famous green and yellow Sydney ferries. They get dressed up for the occasion too, sponsored by various companies with wacky additions.

Everyone likes to get out on the water.
